Weekly Update 11/11/2018

This week was not as busy. Not at all. I went to only three lectures (and I skipped one when I just couldn’t get out the door).

One thing I did do, and I enjoyed, is the St John’s Holiday Bazaar. I try to get there every year. They serve the most incredible chili for lunch. I think that all the church ladies make a pot of chili, and then all of that is dumped into one big pot. It is delicious. The church ladies also bake marvelous desserts, but I couldn’t even go near that table – I would want to buy everything. They also have a white elephant sale. I found so many things that I needed – a reusable gingerbread house made of plastic (you coat it with frosting, add your candy, use it for display, then wash everything off and pack it away until next year. What a great idea! But, my Gingerbread House days are far behind me now), lots of books, a great Corningware dish with lid that would be perfect for the soup I eat all the time, a small Christmas pillow (it helps my back if I use a pillow when sitting in my recliner), a cookie jar that would would compliment the ones I have in my kitchen now when my nutcrackers aren’t out. But I came away with only a small teapot and a bracelet. I don’t need any more stuff!

And on Friday, after DH and The 90, I went to a play that Charles Snyder’s theater group did. It was a reading of parts of 4 Neil Simon plays. It was very entertaining, and I liked it very much. It’s at the church on Wilmington Island, and those church ladies always make cookies for before the performances. Unlike the bazaar, my resistance wasn’t high, and I gobbled a few of those up.

The weather has turned cooler now, and the tours at BC were very crowded. In fact, I was asked to give a tour on Saturday in addition to my usual Sunday tour. I guess if locals and tourists can’t get to the beach, they need a different diversion, and BC can be it.

So, since I did so little,I have no pictures this week. Barbara and I went out to lunch at a Cuban restaurant, and I got a Cuban latte, which was very good. This is the only photo of the week:

Both the Spurs and the Bills won this week. What's not to like about that?
