Weekly Update 9/24/2017

Back to normal - back on schedule.  I was back at DH, back at BC, back at The 90, back to Rummikub, back to Lunch Bunch, and back to Coach's for Sunday's NFL game.  I've even watched all the Jeopardy programs that I'd recorded while I was away.  The universe is aligned once again.

I think everyone knows that I collect nutcrackers, and I enjoy trying to find one in places I visit that are reminders of the vacation.  Although I was in every Christmas shop I could find in UK, I had no luck in finding something that I considered "British" enough for my collection. So, I searched ebay, and found a little Norman warrior nutcracker. I also  found a Tottenham Hotspurs t-shirt that I'd wanted to buy there, but never had a chance.  So, I ordered them from ebay.  TECHNICALLY, because I ordered them when I was in UK, I think I can legitimately call them souvenirs from the trip.

It took me a while to catch up on laundry and the mail, and I was jet lagged for a few days.  I met Donna, Heidi and Barbara for lunch on Tuesday, and then Barbara and I went to Savannah Jazz Fest event at the Westin.  The band played salsa music, which isn't my favorite, but I loved watching the people dance.  Including Barbara!

Since returning, I've tried to begin a walking routine.  It's not going well.  I did walk twice at the YMCA across the highway, but was a little put off by new signs: beware of wildlife (with a picture of a snake!) and call 911 in an emergency (what has happened to make signs such as that necessary?).  And I walked one time at Daffin Park.  I was there on Saturday morning, after opening BC, and I could hardly find a place to park.  There were lots and lots of football games going on, from age about 7 or 8 up to high school age.  I don't think I'll continue to walk for exercise, because I don't like to, but I need to do something now that pool season is ended.

what's up with these new signs?

I wanted to attend a football game at the high school across the highway from me, and they had a home game scheduled for Thursday.  I walked over about the time it would start, but was disappointed that there was no game.  I don't know if hurricane Irma has postponed some of the schedule, but I'll try to find out from some of my neighbors.  I may try to get to another game, but they don't have many home games, and if the weather doesn't cooperate, I might not do that this year.

I wasn't sure I wanted to go to Coach's on Sunday to watch the Buffalo game.  Denver looked really good against the Cowboys last week, and I feared this would not be a game I would want to watch.  But I convinced myself that I would rather watch them lose, than not see the game at all.  Good Call! as the game was exciting, with an outcome I liked. Tottenham won their game this week, too.
