Weekly Update 10/1/2017

I'm continuing to give my best efforts to a regular walking routine, but it's difficult.  When I had a meeting at DH on Monday, I parked at Forsyth Park, about a mile from DH, and walked (there are no parking meters there, so it was win-win - I did some walking and didn't pay to park).  I also walked at BC after I unlocked the Visitor Center on Saturday morning.  Can I stop this now? Please?

I tried to watch the Ken Burns' Vietnam documentary, but I found it was too upsetting for me.  The video footage of young men dying in battle, and the interviews with veterans who cry when remembering what they went through - it's all too raw for me.  I'm sure it's a great show, but I just couldn't do it.

On Wednesday, I invited Connie, Helen and Jane to come over and see some of my pictures of the trip to UK.  Connie and Jim plan to go there in December this year, so she was anxious to hear some of my stories.  I made an English tea, with little sandwiches and I baked scones. I cheated on the sandwiches a little, and just used Publix egg salad and turkey salad for filling, but I made the scones from scratch. I even cleaned the condo a little bit.

The new season at SCT is underway, and I was at the performance of Junie B Jones, The Musical on Saturday afternoon.  It was great.  As Always.

I wasn't sure about going to coach's again this Sunday.  Although I thought the same last week, and the Bills were able to get past Denver, I was sure that the Falcons would have their way with us in Atlanta. But, thanks to a great Defense, a couple of long field goals, and some disastrous injuries on the Falcons team, the Bills were able to hang on for a great win.  I was among only a few Buffalo fans, but I didn't feel as if I was watching alone because I was texting with Allen, Dave and Lisa through the game - it was almost like having them with me!  I stayed all the way until the end.  I often leave before the game is over, not wanting to jinx anything, but it was so exciting, I needed to stay this time.  And to make the victory even sweeter, the Patriots lost!

  1. Kudos for the walking to DH! I love the tea you had - I have never made scones- could you please email me the recipe? I see jam on the table but what did you use for clotted cream? whipped cream?
