Weekly
Update 1/5/2020
Alas,
it was not to be. Thanks to all who communicated throughout the
game. The whole team collapsed in the second half – it was a team
loss. Maybe next year.
Barbara
and I went downtown for New Year’s Eve. We ate an early dinner at
Namaste, a Nepalese fusion restaurant on Boughton Street. I can’t
tell you what I ordered, but it was good. We took the ferry across
the river to look back and see the lights glowing on River Street.
We had a drink in a to-go cup and walked long River Street to people
watch. We listened to a couple of bands in City Market, but I’m
partial to the Oldies, and heavy metal sounds like just so much noise
to me. We were home by 10:30. I think I’m a bit of a party pooper
for Barbara, who asked if I want to stay for the fire works. I said
I’m very old and I’ve seen enough New Year’s Eve fire works in
my life to last me, so we went home before the drunks were behind
wheels and hurrying down the Islands Expressway. But it was special
to be with a good friend.
I
have a few lazy weeks coming up. I asked to be taken off the
schedule at DH for the month of January, so I have upcoming Fridays
free. I haven’t been to
City Hall to work in the archives since the first week in December,
but I’ll get back into that this week. There are only a few
programs at TLC that I’m interested in this term, so I won’t be
there much. Weekly Rummikub should continue as before, but because
June has moved out of MP, we’ll see what happens. There may be
little to write in coming weeks.
