Weekly Update 7/24/2022
Four times this week, I went out to lunch. The Wednesday happy hour group met to celebrate July birthdays on Tuesday. My Green Square group met on Thursday to fete Denise’s birthday. John and Mike, from MP met me on Friday, just to keep in touch. And I went out with Kay on Saturday to a nice Mexican restaurant nearby. Two of those lunches were at a place called J Thomas. It is in a strip mall not far from where I used to live at the condos, but it has opened since I’ve moved. I’ve heard a lot of good things about it, and have wanted to try it, and I got there twice this week. It was very good. I had a reuben sandwich one time and the full pot roast dinner the other time. Both were excellent, and the desserts were grand!
Tuesday, after I met for lunch, I went to City Hall. I parked where I didn’t have to pay, walked up to City Hall, and stopped at the Little Library near the police station to drop off some books that have been in the trunk of my car for months. There were no books inside the box, so when I added the few I had, it looked a little more friendly. I usually go there in the morning, but because I was later, the drive home was unbelievable! I knew it would be bad, so instead of going along the port as I normally do, I went home on Route 80. What should have taken about 50 minutes, took me two hours. And it wasn’t truck traffic; it was commuter traffic -people driving back from jobs in the city out to the ‘burbs. It made me very glad that I am retired.
Thursday, since I was close to Bonaventure, I went to the cemetery to put some summer flowers at the graves of John and Dessie. The flags and red, white and blue carnations that were there looked pretty bad, so I’m glad I did that.
I really didn’t do much else this week except go out to lunch. I did try to spend as much time as I could at the pool, and I read quite a bit. It cools down in the afternoon, and the thunderstorms roll in, so I’ve been out on my porch with my book for several afternoons this week.
I had lovely videos of Adrian again this week, and I also got a copy of the ultrasound of Baby #2. No idea if it’s a brother or sister for Adrian, but Sarah says that doesn’t matter. And it doesn't. Adrian had a visit to Build A Bear Workshop, too. I think he got a birthday bear. Those pictures brought back fond memories of me spending hundreds of dollars in that store with all the girls in past times.
