Weekly Update
8/16/2015
The new iPhone seems to
be working fine, and I like it much better than the old galaxy phone,
but I'm rapidly using my data allotment. I can't get on the internet
and just wander around like I'm used to. I hope that changes, but I
don't think so.
I met Kay for lunch on
Tuesday. We went to the Crystal Beer Parlor - a good friend and one
of my favorite places to eat. What's not to like. Then I got a
pedicure. It was time, and now my toes are dark red again.
Wednesday there were two
lectures at TLC. Sylvia and I went to the 50s sitcom tv shows in the
morning, and at noon, I attended one that was billed as “Savannah
in the 1970s”. What it actually was a talk by a local author who
was selling her new book that was set in
Savannah in the 1970s. So,
it wasn't what I thought it would be, but interesting nonetheless.
Friday was DH, and I
went to 17 Hundred 90 after that for a drink. It's been weeks since I
was there, so I was glad to be back. The Bills preseason game
against the Panthers was played that night, and I “watched” on
the phone (no wonder I'm running out of data!). What a
disappointment. I had hoped they would start off with a win as a
sign of good things to come. I know it's only preseason, and it
doesn't mean much, but I still wanted a win. And as if that wasn't
bad enough, I WATCHED the re-broadcast on Saturday night, even though
I knew it wasn't going to be good.
Saturday I opened and
closed BC, and sat in the Visitors Center in the afternoon. I had to
open and close again on Sunday, and I was a little pissed off - as
only I can get over stupid inconsequential things - that neither of
the two morning people showed up, so I stayed again to answer
questions and hand out maps. I hope they know what a dedicated
volunteer they have!
Since there was little
going on this week, I'll add a photo of the cotton plants that have
just begun to bloom in the DH garden. White gold!
Have you learned this "cotton riddle"? "First day white, second day red, third day from my birth I'm dead. Though my life's of short duration, still I help to clothe the nation." What am I? answer - a cotton bloom before it becomes a boll and then opens with the cotton, Also, have you ever picked the cotton from the boll? Not easy and you can easily get stuck!
